The Founder
ISD was founded in 1996 when Dr. Tewolde Berhan Gebre Egziabher and his wife, Sue Edwards, were asked by the Ethiopian Government to come up with alternatives for expensive external inputs, particularly chemical fertilizers, in order for smallholder farmers to make their land productive.
Rural Women Cultivating Change (RWCC) Project Baseline Validation Workshop is underway in Woldiya town, 21 -22 June 2022. The workshop was jointly organized by ISD and WEA.
Mr. Alemu Asalfew is a staff member of the Institute for Sustainable Development (ISD). He is making compost in his yard, growing vegetables naturally, without chemical inputs, and benefiting not only his family but also his neighbors.
